Secure, scalable platform enabling easier onboarding of new partners across Europe

About company
Eurowag is a leading European transport payments company founded in the Czech Republic in 1995 and listed on the London Stock Exchange (FTSE 250). Operating in 23 countries and supporting over 300,000 active trucks, it offers a single platform for fuel payments, toll management, tax refunds, and fleet telematics. Its fuel card is accepted at more than 15,600 stations across Europe. As a publicly traded pan-European payments infrastructure provider, Eurowag operates mission-critical systems where availability, security, and scalability are essential.

As Eurowag continued expanding its services and partner network across Europe, its existing on-premises infrastructure became increasingly limiting. The company needed a more scalable and highly available platform while maintaining uninterrupted service for partners relying on its payment infrastructure. At the same time, years of accumulated data, Oracle database dependencies, and complex partner connectivity requirements made the migration a significant undertaking.
Key Challenges
- Legacy on-premises infrastructure
- Dependence on Oracle database technology
- Large volumes of historical business data
- Need to avoid service interruptions during migration
- Limited scalability for future growth
- Complex partner access and connectivity requirements

Trustsoft conducted an initial assessment and recommended participation in the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP), a proven AWS framework for cloud migration planning and execution. Following the assessment phase, a new AWS environment was designed and implemented with a focus on scalability, security, and high availability.
The solution included a completely rebuilt cloud network architecture utilizing load balancers, transit gateways, and VPN connectivity. More than 130 VPN connections were prepared for Eurowag partners, with three dedicated secure environments for each partner covering production, backup, and testing needs. Trustsoft also migrated the Oracle database to PostgreSQL, reducing technology constraints and enabling broader compatibility with AWS services. Infrastructure was delivered as code, while deployments and distribution processes were automated to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
Key Solution Components
- AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP)
- Complete AWS network infrastructure redesign
- Load balancers, transit gateways, and VPN architecture
- More than 130 secure partner VPN connections
- Migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and deployment automation
