Erste Group (Česká spořitelna): Unification of the Environment and In-Depth Pre-Migration Data Analysis

How Trustsoft unified Google G Suite and Office 365 into a single Microsoft 365 platform through an in-depth pre-migration analysis and custom migration scripts.

It serves more than 5 million individuals, SMEs, municipalities and large corporations, and is known for George, its widely used online banking platform. Challenge

As Česká spořitelna grew, almost half of its employees worked in Google G Suite while the rest used Office 365 and MS Teams. Both platforms worked well on their own, but sharing documents between them caused friction and, without a central shared storage, multiple file versions. MS Office was chosen as the target platform, so Trustsoft joined the migration team to prepare an in-depth pre-migration analysis and the scripts needed for an accurate migration.

Solution

Despite limited access to both interfaces for most of the project, Trustsoft debugged potential issues and delivered a pre-migration analysis covering data volume, mailboxes, users and cloud-hosted websites. It then built migration scripts to preserve data accuracy across the structural differences between the platforms, for example G Suite allows several documents to share a name via unique IDs, while MS Office treats duplicates as a single file.
